Jennifer Platt (Vice-President, Publications, Executive Committee 2010-2014) has spent most of her career, from lecturer to professor, at the University of Sussex, after a first degree in English, a Chicago MA in Sociology, and a research job on the ‘Affluent Worker’ project.  Her main research interests have been in the history of sociology and its institutions, and in aspects of research method - sometimes combined as the history of research methods - and in intellectual migration and its consequences.  For the British Sociological Association she has edited its journal Sociology, acted as President, and written its official history.  In Britain she has also been a member of the national Economic and Social Research Council's Sociology and Social Administration Committee, Social Affairs Committee, and  Training Board.  For the American Sociological Association she has been President of its Section on the History of Sociology, and a member of the editorial board of the American Sociological Review.  Her long involvement with the ISA started in 1992 as Secretary and then President of the RC on the History of Sociology, then she joined the EC for 8 years (during which time she wrote the official history of ISA), and was the first Book Review Editor of International Sociology.
